Social housing is not eligible for the free insulation grant under the general group. However, under the low-income group, social housing with an EPC/SAP rating of E, F, or G qualifies. Other domestic properties in council tax bands A to D (E in Scotland and Wales) may also be eligible. Homeowners with properties in EPC/SAP bands D to G and private renters with an EPC/SAP rating of D or E can apply for the home insulation grant. A free insulation survey helps determine eligibility for the insulation grant.
The funding comes from all the big six major energy companies who have a Government obligation to reduce their carbon emissions throughout the UK. You do not need to repay this back.
